Honeywellness Micropigmentation Training
Experience: As a Nationally acclaimed trainer for major cosmeceutical manufacturers, Lisa Honeywell has co-created the paramedical pre and post skin care protocols for laser resurfacing, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and aggressive medical esthetics procedures. Lisa also trained Dermatology, Plastic Surgery and Medical Skin Care Clinics in the treatment modalities to maximize surgical and procedural outcome.
Lisa has traveled internationally for a cosmetics manufacturer training make-up artists in the latest fashion trends. She taught courses in paramedical skin care and make-up trained artists to reassess the client’s make-up habits post-operatively with scar camouflage techniques.
Presently: With twenty plus years as a medical Esthetician and over ten years with focus exclusively on Micropigmentation technical training, Lisa travels nationally providing training to nurses and Estheticians in private practices.
Academy Training Center: Based in Houston, Texas, Lisa’s training facility is located at the Vista Medical Center Hospital.
Working in association: with Dr. Justina Taube an Oculoplastic surgeon and one of only ten in the entire state of Texas to hold both the license of an ophthalmologist and plastic and reconstructive surgeon. A graduate of U.T.M.B. with a M.D. Doctor of Medicine and Baylor College of Medicine Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery and Orbital Reconstruction or Oculoplastic Surgery. Dr. Taube is appointed as a member of clinical faculty at The University of Houston Optometry College. She is on site during Lisa’s Micropigmentation trainings.
Scope of practice: With profound knowledge and first hand understanding of the injectable market, the course covers what every practicing Micropigmentation technician must know about cosmetic fillers and injectables. The special care of the procedure area and scheduling of Micropigmentation procedures as an adjunct to these procedures has a very specific time table.
Pre and Post Op Surgery: Assisting clients in planning their Micropigmentation procedures corresponding with any surgery whether it is Lasik, Cataracts, Face lift “Rhytidectomy, Eyelid “Blepharoplasty”, Mastectomy or Mammaplasty, will create a relationship that is most rewarding. Lisa teaches camouflage and repigmentation of various scar tissues from areolas and breast tissue repigmentation to burns and surgical scar camouflage.
Candidates for training: .Those who plan to enter the field of Micropigmentation for the first time, as well as existing Micropigmentation technicians who desire to re-hone their skills to better meet market demands. Today’s consumers are savvy and knowledgeable participants in the current market trends. Going to great lengths to maintain their youthful appearance, our clients become our life time friends.
Prerequisites: States vary in their certification, licensing guidelines and requirements. It is not always a prerequisite that a Micropigmentation technician hold a nursing or esthetics license. Check with your state for details. Many individuals who have come to us for training have come from other fields and careers.
Areas of interest: In 2007, Lisa was honored with the request to participate with a panel of subject matter experts from across the nation to create both the basic and advanced exams for National and State Micropigmentation licensing for a private technology corporation.
Curriculum: Training is based on the knowledge and skill level of the candidate. Each student has special needs and the course material is compiled with specific requirements per level of training. A practicing nurse of twenty years would require less “A & P” anatomy and physiology as well as sterilization theory as their vocation relies on their knowledge of this information. Therefore the course would be streamlined in that area with more emphasis on color theory and procedural techniques
Mass Training Mentality: Beware of “bargain” training. Far too often the cost of training will dictate where an individual chooses to train. Just as this would not be the correct approach to select a plastic surgeon to perform surgery it is not the best approach in selecting where to receive Micropigmentation training.
What is the motive of low cost trainings? So here is the catch. Offering training in an over crowded situation for a low cost can only be offset by sales of some sort. We are speaking of the manufacturer or distributor of equipment and supplies. Luring students under the guise of quality training is not fair. The entry level student is shown the “tools of the trade” by the company manufacturing and selling them. A new entry level student is not able to determine state of the art from antiquity. They end up with high priced equipment and inventories of problematic supplies. That’s the way that it works. Trust us. After spending days in training, receiving little to no practical work the student is given a certificate and lots of merchandise. They end up lacking confidence and competence. They produce poor work or give up. Some seek additional training elsewhere.
No association with any manufacturer or distributors: We are not affiliated with nor do we receive any compensation in any form, directly or indirectly from any manufacturer or distributor of Micropigmentation equipment or supplies. Any endorsements given are based on the personal opinions of our staff and expressed as such.
Examine the quality of our training. A candidate for training must thoroughly examine their own motives to enter the industry of Micropigmentation. Is it to perform mediocre work and rush clients through revolving doors? We would hope the motive is the desire to build a successful practice that will enrich the lives of many.
Flourish and prosper: Building a solid base for success requires the proper foundation of knowledge, and skills. Once an individual has attained these we next achieve balance in the course curriculum with marketing and legal aspects of the practice.
